Introduction

About:- The Chemistry teaching started in1989.The Chemistry teaching was confined to course for B.Sc degree department teaching undergraduate level.Chemistry as a Subject is available in following two Streams at undergraduate level.

(U.G) Courses:-

Sc (Maths Group) :-Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.

No. of seats :- 80

Sc (Bio Group) :- Chemistry, Botany, Zoology.

No. of Seats :- 80

The Department has two Equipped laboratries having all necessary facilities like gas supply for burners, fire fighting devices,adequate water Supply.The instruments as per UGC curriculum are available in the department and there is rich store for chemicals.The department is ready to face the challenges of New Education Policy to fulfill the dreams of New generation.The department of chemistry is well known for its excellence in teaching.

The department of M.Sc Chemistry of Chinmaya Degree College was established in the year 2004. It offers two years master degree course in Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry to students opting for CBZ (Chemistry, Botany and Zoology) as well as for PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).

The total no. of seats available in this course is 25, including reservations as per Government norms. This programme is affiliated to HNB Garhwal University under Self Finance Scheme (SFS).

The Department hosts 03 faculty members engaged in imparting quality education in basic and applied areas of Chemistry.

Equipped with state of the art laboratory facilities the department provides excellent exposure to students in Chemical and instrumental analysis by using technical instruments like Spectrophotometer, Nephlometer, pH meter etc.

Students are given exposure through industrial visits and workshops from time to time. The M.Sc Chemistry program focuses on practical application of Chemical principles making the students ready for the job market. Graduating students find employment in reputed organizations, Pharmaceutical companies and also opt for teaching carriers.
