Swami Tejomayananda Ji was the Global Head of Chinmaya Mission worldwide from August 1993 to January 2017 . He was born in a Maharashtrian family on 30th June 1950 in Madhaya Pradesh. He was called Sudhakar Kaitwade. At the age of 20, While doing his master's degree in Physics, he met Swami Chinmayananda. So thoroughly inspired was Sudhakar, that after obtaining his mother's permission, he joined Chinmaya Mission's Vedanta Course in Mumbai. After successfully completing the course in 1975, he was posted to Chinmaya Mission Centre in Bhopal and subsequently Kanpur and Sidhbari.
On October 21, 1983 Swami Chinmayananda ji initiated him into sanyas and gave him the name Swami Tejomayananda Ji. In 1989, Swami Tejomayananda Ji was sent to San Jose (USA) and became Acharya of Chinmaya Mission West. This made him In-charge of all of Chinmaya Mission activities in North America.
Upon Swami Chinmayananda's Maha Samadhi in August 1993, Swami Tejomayananda Ji returned to India and became the Global Head of Chinmaya Mission world wide. Since then , SwamI Tejomayananda Ji has vigorously pursued the grand vision of his master.
In the year 2016, the President of India awarded Swami Ji with "Padma Bhushan" for his social and spritual contribution to the society. In January 2017 he handed over the charge of Global Head of Chinmaya Mission to HH Swami Swaroopananda Ji. Currently HH Swami Tejomayananda Ji, reverentially called Guru ji by the devotees of Chinmaya Mission world wide, is the Chief mentor of Chinmaya Mission.
